Respiratory Disease Claims
Have you developed a respiratory disease due to your working condition? If you have, you may be entitled to make respiratory disease claims.
There are many different types of respiratory diseases which can be developed as a result of coming into contact with fumes and dusts at work.
Some of the common types of respiratory diseases include:
- Occupational asthma
- Occupational bronchitis
- Asbestos related diseases
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
There are a number of occupations where workers are at an increased risk of developing respiratory diseases. These occupations include:
- Food processing
- Drug manufacture
- Bird breeding
- Laboratory work
Depending on the type of respiratory disease developed, the victim may experience a number of symptoms.
If a dangerous substance has been inhaled, then irritation to the mouth and throat can be experienced before any actual damage is done to the lungs. Some of the initial symptoms include fever, persistent cough, tiredness, tightness in the chest and flu like symptoms including breathing difficulty, wheezing, runny nose etc.
In some cases, the victim may not experience any symptoms at all.
There are generally three categories of respiratory diseases. These include:
- Diseases caused by inhaling mineral or inorganic dusts
- Diseases caused by inhaling organic dusts
- Diseases caused by chemicals and irritant gas
