Facial Injury Claims

Injuries to the face can be extremely distressing as it not only causes physical problems, but psychological issues as well.  It is often a traumatic type of injury which most people find it hard to come to terms with following an accident.  The experience can be even more traumatic if the accident was caused by another person’s fault.

Facial injuries can leave you with scarring and if the injury is serious, it can cause a permanent change to your appearance.  Facial injuries can be caused under numerous circumstances, but if the injury was caused due to the fault of someone else, you may be entitled to seek financial compensation.

Compensation Amounts

The amount of compensation that can be recovered following a facial injury depends on several factors.  Given below are examples of the type of injury along with the level of compensation that can be obtained.

Fractures – simple fractures can attract compensation between £1,100 and £1,650.  Fractures to the cheekbone can attract a maximum compensation of £10,500.  The exact amount will depend on whether surgery is required and whether there are any permanent side effects of the injury.  Very serious fractures to the jaw which requires long term treatment may attract between £15,000 and £24,000.  Frontal facial fracture may attract between £20,000 and £30,000.

Damage to the teeth – if you lose a tooth in an accident such as a road accident, workplace accident or slip, trip and falls, you can obtain compensation in the region of £1,125 to £7,500.  The award will be higher if several front teeth have been lost.

Facial Scarring – the level of compensation that one can receive for facial scarring depends on a number of factors and one of those interestingly is the sex.  A woman who has suffered facial scarring in an accident will receive a greater compensation award than a man.  Minor scarring such as those which can be camouflaged with make-up can attract compensation in the region of £1,150 to £2,300.   Moderate scarring can attract an award in between £2,600 to £20,000.   For facial disfigurement, the award can range from £20,000 to £64,000.
