There are many different types of accidents which can result in foot injuries. Here’s a look at some of the main accident types which can give rise to a compensation claim.
Road accidents – one of the most common causes of foot injury is road accidents. Foot injury can be caused whether you get involved in an accident as a driver, passenger, cyclist, motorbike rider or a pedestrian.
Work accidents – foot injury caused as a result of workplace accidents is also common. Accidents at work can occur under numerous circumstances and examples of accidents which can cause foot injuries include being hit by a heavy object, dropping heavy objects on the foot whilst carrying out heavy lifting or manual handling tasks, machinery accidents, etc.
Sports accidents – foot injuries can be caused whilst playing contact sports such as rugby and football. They can also be caused as a result of falls.
How Much Compensation?
The level of compensation that a person can obtain following a foot injury depends on the severity of the injury. If an injury has occurred where amputation is necessary, then a compensation award in the range of £48,000 to £117,000 can be expected. However the compensation award will be towards the lower end of the scale if amputation of only one foot is required and towards the higher end of the scale if amputation of both the feet is required.
If a serious injury has occurred which causes severe pain and disability, then a compensation award in the range of £48,000 to £63,000 can be expected.
Less severe foot injuries will of course attract a lower compensation award.
