Leg Injury Claims
Suffered a leg injury due to no fault of your own? If you have, you may be able to make a leg injury claim.
A leg injury claim can result from numerous types of accidents such as road accidents, work accidents, sports accidents, falls from heights and slips and trips. It can even be caused as a result of being a victim of criminal assault.
How Much Compensation?
The level of compensation that can be obtained depends on the extent of the leg injury. Serious leg injuries that result in amputation of both the legs can attract compensation in the range of £125,000 and £145,000. The level of the compensation will be towards the higher end of the scale if the point of amputation is closer to the hip.
However, the range of compensation will be lower if the amputation is required below the knees. In such cases, compensation award in the range of £105,000-£140000 can be expected.
If a person suffers injury to one leg which results in the amputation of that leg, then compensation award in the range of £50,000-£72000 can be obtained. The level of compensation will depend on the degree of pain suffered by the victim along with any kind of psychological damage such as depression.
Amputation below the knee will attract a lower compensation, usually in the range £45,000-£65,000.
Even serious injuries which do not require an amputation may attract an award in the range £50,000-£70,000. In order to obtain compensation within this bracket, the victim must have suffered injuries such as fractures which require the insertion of plates and pins or bone grafting.
Compensation in the range of £28,000-£43,000 can be expected if the injury is less severe. Multiple fractures which restrict mobility is an example of injury that can help the victim obtain compensation within this bracket.
Where the accident has resulted in injuries such as damage to ligaments and joints, uncomplicated fractures and cuts and bruises, compensation award between £7000 and £28000 can be recovered.
