Pelvis Injury Claim

A severe pelvic injury can have devastating effect on the victim’s life.  It can cause extreme pain and suffering and it can also result in loss of a leg. Pelvic injuries must not be taken lightly even if it appears to be a minor injury.

If you have suffered a pelvis injury in an accident that was not your fault, you may be able to make a pelvis injury claim.

Common Causes

Pelvis injuries can occur under numerous circumstances.  Some of main causes of pelvis injuries which can give rise to pelvis injury claims include the following:

Road accidents – pelvic injuries and other significant injuries can occur when high speed road accidents take place.  It mostly occurs when a large vehicle or an immovable object is involved in the accident.

Motorbike accidents – motorbike riders have very limited outside protection and this puts them at a greater risk of sustaining serious injuries when they get involved in accidents.

Work accidents – accidents at work can also result in hip injuries and other significant injuries such as broken limbs.  Such injuries are common among construction site workers and those who work at height.

Slips and trips- slips and trips are often considered as minor accidents as they generally result in cuts and bruises and less severe injuries.  But, they can also cause pelvis injuries such as shattered hips and fractures.  Such injuries are quite common among elderly people because old people are more prone to sustaining serious injuries when they get involved in slips and trips.

How Much Compensation?

The level of compensation that can be obtained following a pelvic injury depends on various factors including the extent of the injury, time it takes to make full recovery, effect of the injury on the person’s lifestyle, work and overall quality of life, etc.

Severe injuries will attract a higher level of compensation. A compensation award in the region of £51,000 to £86,000 can be obtained for extensive fractures involving a ruptured bladder or dislocation of the lower back joint.

Less severe injuries such as pelvic injury resulting in impotency and traumatic myositis ossificans can attract an award in the region of £40,000 to £51,000.

Moderate pelvic injury can attract an award in the region of £17,000 to £25000.

Injuries of limited severity and less serious injuries can attract an award between £2,600 to £17000.
